HEANOR ADVERTISER 9th SEPTEMBER 1915 LOSCOE BROTHER ON ACTIVE SERVICE We learn with regret of the death of Rifleman Harry John Farmer, son of Mr T. Farmer of Loscoe Nook, who was wounded in France on April 24th and died about three days after. Deceased, was in the 3rd Batt Kings Royal Rifles, enlisting in September last. He has been at the front since January, and has written home every week with cheerful and hopeful letters. A letter dated April 24th from Major Boultbee intimated that Harry had been wounded, and it was not until August 24th that official notification was received of his death. He was previously employed at Messrs G.R. Turner's Langley Mill. Harry's oldest brother, who is in the 4th Leicester’s went through the Boar War and is now in the trenches doing well. Another brother Edwin, 1st Leicester’s, has been in the Army Nine years, and went to the front in August of last year. A fortnight ago he was shot through the thigh, and is now in Cheltnham Hospital progressing favourably his brother Albert joined the Bamtam’s Sherwood Foresters and is in training at Swindon.
