EASTWOOD & KIMBERLEY ADVERTISER 1918 MISSING RIPLEY BROTHERS ONE A PRISONER AND THE OTHER STILL UNHEARD OF PTE JACK CORBY CODNOR SHERWOOD FORESTERS Pte Jack Corby, of Ripley, one of three brothers who we announced last week were the sons of Mr and Mrs Corby, of Wall St Ripley, who were with the colours, and who, we were sorry to state, was missing after nine months in France. Pte Jack Corby enlisted in May 1917, in the 7th Sherwood's, and went to France with them in August the same year. After passing through several hospitals abroad with trench fever, Corby was transferred to the 2/5th Sherwood's, and had been with them only a week, when, on April 15th, he was posted as missing, and has not since been heard of. During that week Pte, Jack was told how his brother, Pte Archie (whose photo we published last week) was missing. Whereas the latter, however is now known to be a wounded prisoner. Pte Jack, and his wife, who resides at Mill Lane, Codnor, will be very grateful for any news about him.
